Ezekiel 33:1-6, “Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.”
Ezekiel chapter 33 describes the duties of the “Watchman.” The Lord appointed the prophet Ezekiel as a Watchman unto ancient Israel, to warn against the sinful iniquities of mankind coming against the Kingdom of God. The Prophet was to watch and warn the people by blowing the shofar (a rams horn) which acted as a warning or announcement unto the Israelites. In this case being used as a siren of danger about turning away from God, unto their own sinful desires and also unto false doctrine separating them from the Word of God. This passage of scripture is very important to the Church today to be ever so watchful against false doctrine trying to creep into the House of God. Many Churches refuse to preach against sin namely homosexuality, premarital sex, and educating and raising up our youth in the ways of the Lord. Many feel good messages are taught to keep people happy and comfortable in their current situation, giving them the false security that everything within themselves is alright when the Bible teaches otherwise. Romans 7:18 states, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” This warning is upon ever Christian that if we are not watchful and vigilant to warn others against what we know is sin, and a lie we will be held accountable in the eyes of God. We must constantly as long as we are in the flesh, remain cautious of the things we say, do, and give our time to in order to stay devoted unto the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not only for ourselves but also to our family, friends and loved ones. Be watchful for the sword of the abomination, and sound your shofar giving truth and knowledge unto the body of Christ, Shalom…
