2 Corinthians 12:7, “And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.”
For many years I always associated the “thorn in the flesh” of Paul as some type of physical ailment. A type of cross for Him to bear to remain humble and dependent upon YAH. However upon my studies the term “messenger” actually translates to the Greek meaning Aggelos which means angel of satan. This demonic spirit manifested in hardships in his journey’s spreading the Word of YAH to the world.
Recorded in 2 Cor 11:23-27, “Are they ministers of Christ?-I speak as a fool—I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.”
Though troubling times of imprisonment and physical abuse plagued the Apostle, YAH preserved Him in all to fulfill His calling here on Earth. Many times we as Believer’s will experience the same from friends, family or society when sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we have been called unto His glory, never get beside the fact that we all still fall short of His divine glory and pray that we stay humble and strong enough to endure until the end.
