Matthew 27:46, And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Eli, Eli Lama Sabachthani was a very prophetic statement uttered by Yeshua/Jesus Christ as He suffered for sins on the Cross. Here Jesus is confirming His death as the final sin offering for all of mankind by quoting a passage from Psalm 22:1-3 which states, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”
This scripture written by King David many years before prior to the Lord’s arrival here on Earth stated that in His time of need David looked to the Cross of Christ, and the Messiah as refuge from suffering and hardship here on Earth. Christ spoke these same words from the Cross which laid claim to Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God and the only one true salvation for all of mankind for the remission of all sin. Every Disciple of Christ should diligently seek the Lord and look to the Cross as our only means of salvation, the same way King David did when He had too much to bare. No help comes from doing good deeds or the sowing of money into a Ministry can replace the fact that the Cross of Christ is truly ones only help in times of need.
By way of Yeshua/Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit can then intercede on our behalf having our Faith placed correctly in the Cross! Then and only then can we be delivered from this world as stated in Psalm 22: 4-5, “Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.” Shalom…
