The Angelic Hierarchy

Job 1:6-7 (NLT)

One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the Lord, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them. “Where have you come from?” the Lord asked Satan. Satan answered the Lord, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.”

The Angelic Hierarchy God is a very intriguing topic of discussion. The scriptures give a brief look into the different tiers or ranks of these celestial beings. The Bible breaks down the “Heavens” into three distinct spheres, inhabited by different angelic beings each completing a different duty or task.

The first sphere of angels described in Isaiah 6:1-7 are the Seraphim, and the Cherubim mentioned in Genesis 3:24. The Seraphim, the “burning ones,” are the highest in God’s ranks, serving as caretakers to His throne. These beings sing praises “Holy, holy, holy” an are described as having six wings, and composed of fire. The Cherubim guard the Throne of God, and have four faces, a lions body and ox feet. They serve as guards to the Lord’s holy sanctums.

The second sphere contains the angels of Dominions and Principalities, Ephesians 1:21. These spiritual beings govern the lower rank angels who oversea the works of man. They oppose the spiritual wickedness over the Earth. They bound and chain evil spirits who work to cause discord against mankind. They serve as warriors and are represented as being divinely beautiful.

The third sphere serve in the lowest ranks, and act as God’s messengers to men. They are the Archangels and personal guides to mankind, Ephesians 3:10. These Angels minister divine wisdom and give direct orders from The Most High, answering to the second sphere Angels. These beings are the main ministers to the historical events of Jesus Christ birth and also to his glorious resurrection.

I find it very interesting that God has a very distinct and human way of how His heavenly realm is ruled. Much like our own Government having distinct titles, duties and authorities for each person is very similar. Mankind mimics the heavenly realm in the Earth, showing proof that a divine being is always in control an loves His blessed creation.
