1 Peter 2:9 New King James Version (NKJV)

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

As we begin our journey throughout this natural world, the Disciples of Christ must always keep their faith in the Cross and not in the things of this world. From the time we are born, we are conditioned to start planning for what profession we will work during our adult years. Whether this is a doctor, lawyer, police officer, we start to place ourselves in these professions as a make or break goal for our lives. While these goals are attainable by some, they are not always achieved which will cause heartache in people’s lives.

The number one goal for all individuals should always be to seek first the Kingdom of God, as the Creator is the only one who knows our true calling. By placing our Faith in the World we will always be unfulfilled because there is no true joy in having the perfect job, money or success, but only in being spiritually minded in the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9, describes Believers as a chosen generation to impact this world. This chosen generation is to preach and bring the Kingdom of God into this fallen world through love, kindnessand generosity. This love and kindness is described in 2 Peter 1:5-9, “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.”

These will follow those in His Marvelous Light. While achieving worldly goals are satisfying, they will not satisfy our Spirit. Which is proven by some of the most successful people, who find depression and brokenness in their life without God. Our identity is in Jesus Christ. The one who brings light into our Spirit, and not the natural world which satisfies for the moment and not eternally. Shalom…
